About
The Home Team, a dynamic Seattle-based quartet, features Brian Butcher (vocals), John Baran (guitar), Ryne Olson (bass), and Daniel Matson (drums). Established in 2013 by Baran and Matson after their time in metal bands, The Home Team has distinguished themselves with their genre-blending sound, which they dub “heavy pop.” Butcher joined in 2015, becoming the perfect fit due to his long-time admiration for the band and his status as their first EP’s original purchaser. Olson came on board in 2019 after a successful tour connection with the band.
Drawing from roots in traditional pop-punk and metal, The Home Team infuses their music with elements of R&B, pop, and funk, creating a distinctive heavy pop sound that reflects their diverse influences. Their commitment to authenticity has garnered them a fiercely loyal fan base. The band has performed alongside major acts like Don Broco, Senses Fail, Real Friends, and The Used, and they enjoyed a successful stint on the Summer School 2024 tour. They are gearing up to hit the road in the fall with Neck Deep as well as a sold out EU/UK tour at the end of 2024.
The Home Team’s electrifying performances are brought to life through innovative production techniques. Their recent albums, including Better Off and Slow Bloom, showcase their evolving sound. Their latest release, The Crucible Of Life, is a testament to their growth and resilience. “This album is aptly named after how it felt to create it,” says Brian Butcher. “Before Slow Bloom, it had been such a grind for us to get to that point that we felt as though the world was hardening us, only to realize that once we were able to make music our career and meet our goals, that intensity basically just doubled.” The Crucible Of Life is available now via Thriller Records.
